It all began for me in late 1978, when I entered a hair salon for the first time. As soon as I walked in I was hooked; I felt I had found my home.
It was the most revolutionary period for hairdressing, with changes in music and fashion creating a whole new scene and throwing the old style rulebook out the window. It was a wonderfully creative period, and a great time to start a hairdressing career.
I got a job and learned my craft, always with an eye to opening my own salon one day. Finally in 1989 I did, in a small space above a city centre newsagent’s.
We’ve grown up a bit since then, and have watched the industry grow, too, with incredible new products, tools and services bringing a new range of possibilities and fresh, dramatic looks. The in-salon experience has also become paramount, and that’s something we have tried to perfect at Zullo & Holland, never forgetting that without our clients, we would be nothing.
I am fortunate to have a team full of skilled, determined and thoroughly lovely people, who have helped me grow Zullo & Holland into what it is today. As a team we are constantly evolving, channelling our creativity into everything we do and putting education at the heart of it all.
As for myself, I still have a real passion for hairdressing and love every minute of it – running the business, developing the team and looking after my clients.
